Lazy football administrators ...old, old websites

The Tactician has football blood running in his veins. As much as we claim to wanting to inject professionalism in the game of football. The state of local football websites is nothing but a mess...
Apart from the Namibia Sport website that has really lived up to the true tradition of information update, the rest have struggled to live up to the expectations. The Tactician was not impressed by the websites of some of the country's most celebrated football clubs, notably Civic and Ramblers.
It's not funny how Civics, with tones of Scharnowski's money, are struggling to feed their fan base with accurate and up-to-date information. Isn't it an insult for the triple league winners to claim, on their website, that Lukas Hashiti is still their goal minder, when the man has enjoyed a successful full season at Ramblers?
The Tactician cannot blame the club's information department for showing Geoffrey Roman, Patrick M'Kontwana, Losper and others for being displayed as Civics players, since these entourage has just been released. But to show a Fedics vs. Civics league fixture that occured in March this year as the club's latest fixture is ain't funny either.
Ramblers are cousins of Civics in laziness, this is well documented. The Pioneerspark-based team is still living in dreamland, when it comes to the latest in the world of information. The website still shows the results of the 2006 Christmas Cup at the coast. This is the information of a year when Mourinho was still with Chelsea, the last year Barca won the Uefa Champions League, and the year German held the 18th FIFA World Cup championship.
Under the 'latest news' section of the Rammies website, there is nothing related to the word 'news' in its true sense. There is a long list of dates for playing jackpot at the club's VIP Club, which, to make matters worse, is outdated. It the team's number one supporter, Robbie, saw that there is a jackpot competition at the VIP Club at 19h00 'tonight', he would be among the first at the scene. That will however be a time poorly spend because the event has taken place a couple of weeks ago.

Can Hendrik Dawids Be Namibia's Patrice Motsepe?

Sundowns' owner Patrice Motsepe and Hendrik Dawids have several things in common. They are both mining entrepreneurs, passionate football lovers, football club owners and have dedicated a considerable share of their earnings to the well being of the beautiful game.

Dawids may not be the 'Prince of Mines' or a billionaire as Motsepe, but the Namibian club owner's passion for football cannot be over-emphasized. Five seasons ago he won the Namibian Premier League (NPL) with the now-relegated Blue Waters, something that will never happen in the forseeable future. Financial muscles lies with Windhoek-based clubs, and any good players would prefer to play in Windhoek than any other place in the country. So for Dawids to win the league with an outside-Windhoek team is the biggest thing happened to a local club owner.

After taking over the ownership of Orlando Pirates last season, considerable changes were seen in the local game. Not did he only topple Civics from their running streak of league champions, but Dawids has also brought the first overseas players to Namibia in the names of Eder Leandro Correa, Alessandro Ferreira dos Santos and Leandro Alves da Cunha. It takes courage, passion, vision and real purpose for one to bring a Brazilian player to Africa, and Namibia in particular, when he can have a better incentive at a non-league Rio de Janeiro club than most of the premier league clubs here.

Dawids may be miles away from Motsepe in terms of economic muscles, but The Tactician, as visionary as he is, believes the two club owners are travelling in the same direction. If Dawids can take care of his current squad, he will be destined for bigger things considering that all good player on the local scene would want to join his charges, while foreign clubs would also come knocking at Dawids door, wanting to buy the hottest stars in the house.

The Tactician takes a 'wait and see' approach.

Why Mbesuma Won't Make It At Sundowns

The biggest mistake by Patrice Motsepe this season was to allow the signing of Zambian badboy (call him fatboy if you like) Collins Mbesuma. Apart from fitness woes, the once Amakhosi hitman has a track record of ill-discipline, while his timekeeping history also speaks volumes for his stupidity.

Here is The Tactician's reasons why Ntofotofo wont excell at The Brazilians:

1. Since divorcing Kaizer Chiefs in 2005, Mbesuma only scored a total of seven goals, all for Portugal's CS Maritimo. He scored non at Portsmouth and Turkey's Bursaspor.

2. Trott Moloto must be sick in his mind to play Mbesuma at the expense of free-scoring Sibusiso Zuma, goal-poacher Katlego Mphela, predatory Lungisani Ndlela, and the ever shining Lerato Chabangu.

3. As a professional club, The Tactician don't think Motsepe and co. would keep on their books a player who goes AWOL without club permission.

4. Ill-discipline - Ntofotofo was fined 5000 Euros by Bursaspor for failing to return on time from an international duty. Liberty Professionals of Ghana terminated his contract for poor time keeping. He went AWOL at Sundowns less than a month after joining them.

5. In an internet survey, Mbesuma was voted the worst signing for Portsmouth in the last 10 years.

6. The guy has just lost his usual touch...

A Smack In Mourinho's Mouth?

The Tactician was not impressed by the way the 'Special One' behaved at the weekend following Inter's triumph 2-1 against minnows Catania. The Portuguese mentor ran his month like a toddler who just got into the game the other day.

Isn't this the guy who called Arsene Wenger a "voyeur"? Wasn't he the one who pulled the ears of Pedro Antonio, a 12 year-old schoolboy who allegedly flirted with his daughter? The Tactician believes the 'top coach', as he arrogantly refer to himself, is in a wrong sporting code. WWF would have been a good sporting area for him. I am sure The Rock and Co. would welcome his ridiculous comments.

Last weekend, him and Catania's Diretor Pietro Lo Monaco squared up following the Portuguese gaffer's pre-match comments that Inter will win because they are a better side both at team and individual levels. You can't blame a coach who never played professional football during his youth days. At least Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Frank Rijkaard, Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes have a trail of good football memories as players.

If the Tactician was fluent in Italian, he'd encourage Lo Monaco to really give the the 'Special One' a smack in the mouth. Maybe I should set a date with Carla Bruni for some Italian lessons.
